About this Group
The CIC University Archivists Group (CIC-UAG) consult and collaborate
on the issues and best practices related to the tasks of gathering,
organizing, preserving, and providing access to the official records
of these major research universities.
The idea for the CIC UAG website rose out of a meeting of the
e-record working group. This meeting was held May 4, 2001 in Chicago.
The working group was charged at the Fall, 2000 CIC meeting with
drafting an electronic policy document that could be used across
institutions. In discussing electronic records issues, we recognized
a need for a method to share information. This site is currently
designed to point to the CIC UAG Standards for an Electronic Records
Policy and to serve as an on-line repository for other documents
that may be useful for all institutions. Links to other documents
are organized in four categories electronic records guidelines,
models, policy, and articles.
