What future trends in users and technology will affect the infrastructure of our libraries?
What can we do now to anticipate and maximize our responses to these trends?
What can we begin to do now to become the library of tomorrow? |
The 2006 CIC Center for Library Initiatives conference, hosted by the Library Directors of the CIC member libraries, seeks to address these questions and more. This one and a half day conference will move from a broad view of the changing world to a more specific look at what changes are being made within technical services departments to meet these new challenges. Speakers will discuss the changes in the world of information, the needs of specific user populations, and will include representatives from programs that have made significant and successful changes in their technical services operations. In addition to the speaker presentations, attendees will have opportunities for focused group discussions around specific scenarios to encourage thought about approaching and planning for changes in technical services, as well as poster session type presentations by CIC libraries about innovative technical services projects they have implemented. |
Conference attendees will be selected by each of the CIC libraries and will be by invitation only. |
Sponsored by the Committee on Institutional Cooperation
